Remember July 7, 2008; the day Malaysia gets her Disability Act.

Malaysia gets her Disability Act. What next?

Malaysia’s very own Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 will ‘come into operation’ on July 7, 2008; that is next Tuesday.

It has been a long journey for all the disability advocates who had been working to get our Malaysian disability act together from conception to operation.
However, the journey has not ended. Indeed it has just started on another level, and that is, to see the Act enforced and put into action.

Disability can cause poverty by preventing the full participation of disabled people in the economic and social life of their communities, especially if the proper supports and accommodations are not available.” World Bank,(Data and Statistics on Disability).
